Technical Specialist – Super Pollutants Accelerator (Mexico)

About the role

The CCAC Technical Specialist will support the Mexican Government by providing scientific and technical input to ensure short‑lived climate pollutant (SLCP) mitigation is fully integrated into national climate commitments, the National Climate Change Strategy and sectoral policies. The role also ensures that technical assistance projects are evidence‑based, effective and aligned with global best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific and technical leadership to embed SLCP mitigation (methane, black carbon, HFCs) into Mexico’s NDC3.0 implementation plans, ENACC/PECC and priority sectoral policies.
• Prepare and deliver technical briefs, policy notes and evidence‑based recommendations for SEMARNAT, INECC and relevant ministries.
• Review and validate technical assistance project deliverables, ensuring alignment with global best practices and scalability across waste, agriculture, energy and urban air quality sectors.
• Contribute to capacity‑building workshops, training curricula and toolkits for government officials and technical teams.
• Develop knowledge products, case studies and presentations for regional and global platforms, and support the preparation of funding proposals.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental sciences, climate policy, atmospheric science, chemical or environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum four years of relevant professional experience in climate or air quality policy, SLCP mitigation, or related technical assistance.
• Proven experience working with government agencies and multi‑stakeholder partnerships on climate‑related initiatives.
• Strong understanding of SLCP science, mitigation pathways and measurement‑reporting‑verification (MRV) frameworks.
