Technical Manager – Military Derivatives

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is recruiting a Technical Manager (f/m) for its Military Derivatives department in Toulouse, France, to join the chief engineering and technical team. The role sits within a new military programme aimed at strengthening European sovereignty, and several Technical Managers are sought. The position is permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering CoCs and their interfaces with Programs, Operations and Services supporting the Chief Engineer
• Prepare and update aircraft technical specifications, and prepare the Program Development Plan with planning and technical reviews
• Prepare the program Work Order and coordinate design technical reviews
• Coordinate documentation for development, certification and qualification, and verify system and subsystem specifications against program requirements
• Agree with the CoC on compliance with technical requirements and provide inputs for the ME budget, certification and qualification plans
• Support Operations and Services on technical queries about aircraft modification and system/equipment installation
• Coordinate ground and flight tests and engineering activities related to modifications in the Green Aircraft
• Monitor progress, resolve technical issues and ensure on-time, on-quality and on-cost delivery
• Advise stakeholders such as industrial partners, quality, purchasing, manufacturing engineering, airworthiness and certification

Required profile

• Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in systems and aircraft development, test, certification and qualification
• Proven ability to resolve issues and manage interfaces within functional groups
• Ability to manage and coordinate internal people and external subcontractors
• Good French and English; Spanish is an advantage
• National security clearance required

Required skills

• Familiarity with the A330 MRTT or Airbus Single Aisle program (desirable)
• Good communication, negotiation and teamwork skills
