Teacher Assistant

About the role

The Teacher Assistant will support classroom teachers by adapting activities, assisting students individually or in small groups, and helping maintain a safe and positive learning environment. This role involves hands‑on interaction with children across classroom, playground, and field‑trip settings.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments and materials to reinforce learning objectives.
• Assist teachers with instructional tasks and preparation of learning resources.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small‑group support for reading, writing, language, numeracy and computer programs.
• Monitor students in various settings to ensure safety and positive behavior.
• Maintain classroom equipment, clean work areas, and manage sign‑in/sign‑out logs.
• Perform general tasks such as laminating, copying, creating bulletin boards and filing.
• Report observations and incidents to appropriate staff.
• Attend meetings and professional‑development sessions.
• Assist with basic childcare duties including diaper changes, snack time and play activities.

Required profile

• High School Diploma.
• Ability to pass federal criminal background checks covering the past 10 years.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment drug testing and random drug tests.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb, squat, push, pull and remain on feet for extended periods.
