System Engineer – Object Storage

About the role

Scaleway is looking for a System Engineer to join its Storage team and help evolve its home‑grown object storage platform. You will work in a collaborative, international environment, contributing to the design, automation, and scaling of distributed storage systems that serve thousands of customers across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and operate new features for Scaleway's in‑house Object Storage solution.
• Support the rollout of new Availability Zones and Regions.
• Improve performance, scalability and reliability of the storage infrastructure.
• Maintain operational excellence through preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Participate in a Level 2 on‑call rotation and resolve complex production incidents.
• Collaborate with Data Center teams on hardware operations and with the Beekeeper engineering team on the Software‑Defined Storage stack.
• Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration using Infrastructure‑as‑Code practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation and onboarding material.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience operating large‑scale Linux infrastructures.
• Strong understanding of high‑load, distributed storage systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and in cross‑functional teams.
