Staff DevOps Engineer – Platform Migration to AWS

About the role

IDnow is seeking a Staff DevOps Engineer to lead the migration of its platform from on‑premises infrastructure to AWS. Based in Rennes, you will act as a senior technical voice, shaping architecture, mentoring peers, and ensuring the reliability and security of the platform during this transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Own large‑scale epics, drive architecture decisions and set technical direction for platform initiatives.
• Lead the migration from on‑premises infrastructure to AWS, maintaining continuity and resilience.
• Champion best practices in infrastructure‑as‑code, CI/CD pipelines and platform reliability.
• Design, build and maintain Kubernetes‑based infrastructure across cloud (AWS) and on‑prem environments.
• Manage and optimise the on‑prem virtualization stack (Proxmox/Ceph) while progressively shifting workloads to AWS.
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform (AWS) and Ansible (on‑prem).
• Handle networking components, firewalls, switches and related security configurations.
• Ensure platform security through TLS certificate management, Vault and close collaboration with the Security team.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, respond to production incidents and contribute to post‑mortems.
• Support and improve observability, monitoring and alerting across the platform.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering.
• Proven experience at a Staff or Senior‑plus level, owning complex projects end‑to‑end.
• Strong ability to work independently, mentor peers and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
