Software Engineer – Agentic AI for Biomedical Research

About the role

As a Software Engineer at Owkin you will build the world‑leading Agentic AI product for biomedical researchers. You will work on a real‑time system that combines large language models, tool‑calling and interactive UI to let users explore complex biological data.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, ML and biomedical scientists to design and deliver scalable AI systems.
• Develop, maintain and optimise core platform components such as agents, analytical workflows and data integrations (DuckDB, AWS Athena, Snowflake, Databricks).
• Drive technical decisions, ensure sustainability, scalability, security and high availability of the stack.
• Experiment with cutting‑edge AI orchestration patterns, fine‑tuning, monitoring and feedback loops.
• Mentor team members through code reviews and knowledge sharing, and participate in on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Strong impact‑driven mindset with passion for empowering biomedical research.
• Excellent collaborative and communication skills in multidisciplinary environments.
• Deep understanding of system architecture, distributed systems and analytical workflows.
• Extensive experience with production environments, CI/CD, observability and security.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
