Senior VAT Manager – EU Indirect Tax Planning

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Senior VAT Manager to lead VAT planning and compliance for its Stores business in France and support broader Pan‑EU retail initiatives. The role is based in London, Paris or Luxembourg and involves close collaboration with business partners and tax teams across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Provide in‑depth VAT technical advice on French and cross‑border EU VAT matters for new initiatives and ongoing operations.
• Support complex audit and controversy projects, engaging proactively with tax authorities.
• Assist the VAT Compliance Team on strategic compliance topics while not handling day‑to‑day compliance tasks.
• Coordinate tax‑related projects, drafting documentation for analysis, decisions and reporting.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal and Accounting to enable new business launches and sustain existing operations.
• Manage relationships with senior stakeholders and communicate VAT concepts clearly to non‑tax professionals.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of VAT experience in a global consulting firm, law firm or blue‑chip commercial organisation.
• Strong knowledge of EU and French VAT legislation and indirect tax planning.
• Proven ability to handle audit, controversy and tax authority engagements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
