Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Mechanism Design

About the role

We are a well‑funded European deep‑tech startup developing next‑generation deployable hardware for the space industry. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will own precision mechanical systems from concept through to flight‑ready hardware, working closely with a highly experienced engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design precision mechanisms such as hinges, latches, gear trains, actuators and deployment systems.
• Own mechanical subsystems through concept, detailed CAD design, analysis, prototyping, testing and qualification.
• Perform kinematic studies, tolerance analysis and ensure designs are manufacturable.
• Support prototype manufacturing, environmental testing, root‑cause investigations and iterative improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, structures, electronics and systems engineers to deliver reliable products.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience designing precision mechanical systems or mechanisms.
• Proven track record taking products through the full development lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of mechanism design, kinematics, tolerance analysis and Design for Manufacture.
• Practical engineering mindset with a passion for solving complex mechanical challenges.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Siemens NX, CATIA or SolidWorks.
• Experience with kinematic studies and tolerance analysis.
• Design of gear trains, actuators, deployment mechanisms or similar moving assemblies.
