Senior Consultant – Low‑Carbon & Climate‑Resilient Buildings

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Senior Consultant to support its Buildings and Cooling Unit. The role focuses on delivering low‑carbon and climate‑resilient building solutions across Africa and South‑East Asia, providing technical, coordination and implementation assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day project activities, organize meetings, workshops and webinars, and prepare agendas, minutes and presentations.
• Monitor implementation of work plans, track deliverables, timelines and reporting requirements, and ensure quality control of technical outputs.
• Conduct background research on sustainable buildings, circular construction materials, embodied carbon and climate‑resilient design; draft technical briefs and knowledge products.
• Document project activities, produce success‑story materials and support outreach to stakeholders and GlobalABC networks.
• Facilitate communication with national and local governments, partners and experts; assist in stakeholder workshops and consultations.
• Prepare progress and activity reports, track indicators, and compile lessons learned and best practices.
• Support organization of capacity‑building events, training sessions and knowledge‑exchange activities, including logistics and database management.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in sustainable construction, architecture, engineering or related fields.
• Experience in project coordination and implementation for climate‑focused building initiatives.
• Familiarity with low‑carbon and climate‑resilient building concepts, especially in developing country contexts.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with ability to synthesize technical information.
