Senior Communications Consultant – Buildings Portfolio

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a senior communications professional to lead the visibility and influence of its Buildings Portfolio. Working under the Global Lead Communication and Advocacy and Programme Officer, the consultant will transform technical knowledge into compelling narratives and high‑impact multimedia content.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement strategic communications campaigns that increase media coverage and digital engagement for the Buildings Portfolio.
• Support the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) and related flagship initiatives, boosting member engagement and stakeholder participation.
• Produce storytelling and multimedia products, ensuring broad audience reach and measurable impact.
• Provide communications support for major international events, advocacy initiatives, and policy forums.
• Monitor and report on performance indicators such as media mentions, digital metrics, and stakeholder feedback.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior‑level communications or advocacy roles, preferably within international or environmental organisations.
• Strong ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging narratives.
• Excellent written and verbal English skills; experience working with diverse global audiences.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
