Research Scientist – AI for Robotics

About the role

NAVER LABS Europe’s Spatial AI team is looking for a research scientist to push forward AI for robotics, with a focus on manipulation and mobile manipulation. The role combines fundamental research with hands‑on experimentation on both simulated and real robotic platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct original research on machine‑learning methods for robotics.
• Design and implement new models and algorithms for perception, control, and sequential decision‑making.
• Build prototypes and proof‑of‑concept systems to evaluate novel ideas.
• Run large‑scale experiments in simulation and on real robots, and analyse the results.
• Publish findings in top‑tier conferences and journals in AI, computer vision, and robotics.

Required profile

• PhD in machine learning, robotics, computer vision, or a closely related field.
• Strong background in machine learning and AI for robotics.
• Excellent programming skills in Python and experience with deep‑learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and evaluating ML models for robotic tasks (manipulation, navigation, mobile manipulation).
• Experience with large‑scale experiments, simulation environments, or real‑world robotic platforms.
• Track record of publications in leading conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, IROS, ICRA).
