Remote Sensing Payload/Satellite/System Resident Expert (Freelance)

About the role

Novaspace Technology is seeking experienced Remote Sensing Payload/Satellite/System Resident Experts on a freelance basis. The role involves monitoring and overseeing the design, assembly, integration and testing of satellite remote sensing payloads (SAR or EO) at manufacturer sites across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor day‑to‑day design, development, integration and test campaigns, ensuring compliance with specifications.
• Provide technical oversight, identify potential issues early and keep schedules on track.
• Prepare and participate in critical design, manufacturing and testing review meetings, including in‑orbit test and Calibration/Validation campaigns.
• Collaborate with the customer’s Program Management Office and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
• Deliver regular progress reports on payload development activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in telecommunications, RF, remote sensing instruments, satellite and systems or a related field.
• 15+ years of experience in SAR or EO payload/satellite/system engineering, including AIT and Cal/Val campaigns.
• Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong leadership, analytical and organizational skills.
