Project Buyer – Procurement Lead for Engineering Projects

About the role

CAMECA is seeking a Project Buyer to lead and coordinate all purchasing activities for assigned projects during the upstream phase, up to product industrialisation. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will work closely with global project managers, engineering, quality, production and service teams to ensure compliance with purchasing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Understand project objectives and translate them into purchasing goals aligned with company strategy.
• Develop and maintain a project‑specific purchasing plan in line with commodity‑buyer strategies.
• Ensure functional and technical specifications contain all necessary purchasing elements.
• Maintain complete purchasing data throughout the project to validate milestones and execution.
• Act as a proactive partner to commodity buyers, building or refining a supplier panel to meet project needs.
• Manage sourcing, RFQ, and supplier selection for non‑commodity purchases, following department standards.
• Lead QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) improvement actions while respecting schedules and budgets.
• Support commodity buyers in evaluating new suppliers and securing purchase or tooling commitments.
• Negotiate and formalise project‑specific terms, including IP, service, and series‑production contracts.
• Oversee contract execution until final prototype acceptance and drive cost‑target achievement through design‑to‑cost approaches.
