Process Support Engineer (Secondary Production)

About the role

Air Liquide France Industrie is looking for a dynamic, highly technical supervisor to take accountability for production and product delivery within its Secondary Production scope (site, region or country). The role coordinates cross-functional teams covering operations, maintenance and product compliance, bridging operational management and hands-on technical optimisation while ensuring efficiency, safety and quality across cluster and country facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support to the production department to optimise equipment performance and reliability, and stay present on site to monitor plant performance, diagnose faults and correct process deviations.
• Monitor and adjust critical variables in distillation and purification processes to ensure product purity and minimise losses.
• Supervise product transfer facilities.
• Design specifications for new installations or modifications, develop and update P&ID and PFD diagrams, draft functional analyses for PLC configuration, and write and update SOPs.
• Carry out risk analyses and test reporting, take part in HAZOP and FMEA reviews, ensure process safety compliance and manage plant modifications (MOC).
• Work with the quality team to reduce non-conformities and run root cause analyses on product deviations.
• Oversee commissioning and start-up of new equipment, and coordinate the industrialisation and validation of new products.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams on shutdown planning, equipment reliability and fault resolution, and liaise with projects and development teams on new products, equipment purchases and plant expansion.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• More than 3 years of relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing or production environment.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Strong leadership, cross-functional communication, analytical troubleshooting and a proactive approach to safety and quality.

Required skills

• Knowledge of distillation processes.
• Understanding of fluid dynamics networks, including pressure-drop estimation and sizing of pumps, control valves and pipework.
