Principal, Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Salesforce is hiring Senior Forward Deployed Engineers, the technical builders who decide how the most complex agentic AI solutions are designed, built and deployed directly inside enterprise customer environments. You will lead technical delivery on your team, mentor the next generation of engineers and set the engineering standards for deploying agentic AI at scale. Working closely with a Deployment Strategist, you own outcomes end-to-end, from architecture decision to production.

Key responsibilities

• Build and deploy end-to-end agentic AI solutions for Salesforce's strategic customers, from architecture decisions through production handoff
• Design and ship agentic systems on the Agentforce platform: agent logic, tool calls, multi-agent orchestration, deterministic guardrails and integration patterns
• Own the data lifecycle: model design, processing pipelines and data readiness across Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, Databricks and customer platforms
• Resolve technical blockers such as data integration failures, model deployment issues, orchestration breakdowns and performance regressions
• Build and maintain agent performance dashboards and customer KPI reporting, and develop proofs of concept and MVPs
• Codify reusable patterns, frameworks and playbooks from real customer work
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair sessions and shared work, and provide technical depth on critical deployments
• Share field insights with Product and Engineering, and partner with the Deployment Strategist to turn customer challenges into shipped solutions

Required profile

• 6+ years of software engineering or technical delivery experience with end-to-end ownership of scalable production systems in enterprise AI, cloud or SaaS environments
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• Expertise in at least one of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java or Apex, and familiarity with the others
• Experience integrating LLMs into production, using frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, and applying prompt engineering and responsible AI practices
• Deep Salesforce platform expertise: Agentforce, Apex, LWC, Flows and Salesforce APIs
• Willingness to travel about 25% of the time, embedded with customer engineers

Required skills

• Data modeling, processing and analytics across Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake or Databricks
• Nice to have: Salesforce certifications (Administrator, Platform Developer I/II, Agentforce Specialist, System Architect)
• Nice to have: DevOps/CI-CD, observability tooling, data governance frameworks, multi-cloud enterprise AI experience, open-source contributions or technical writing
