Postdoctoral Researcher – Sea Ice Dynamics (Grenoble)

About the role

The Institute of Environmental Geosciences (IGE) seeks a motivated researcher or post‑doctoral fellow to join the SASIP project in Grenoble. The successful candidate will focus on sea‑ice dynamics using the new neXtSIM‑DG model, comparing simulations with observations and existing models.

Key responsibilities

• Run and analyse sea‑ice simulations with neXtSIM‑DG, SI3 and Lagrangian versions of neXtSIM.
• Evaluate the realism of sea‑ice dynamics, including a novel sub‑mesh physics parameterisation for ice‑floe dynamics.
• Assess the impact of sea‑ice processes on oceanic and atmospheric boundary layers.
• Collaborate with the MEOM research group, ISTERRE, and NERSC teams.
• Prepare scientific reports and contribute to peer‑reviewed publications.

Required profile

• PhD in oceanography, atmospheric science, climate modelling or a related field.
• Experience in numerical modelling of sea‑ice, ocean or atmosphere systems.
• Ability to work independently and within an international research team.
