Postdoctoral Researcher – Battery Fire Safety

About the role

Join IMT Mines Alès as a Postdoctoral Researcher focusing on the fire safety of lithium‑ion batteries. You will work within the Materials Centre (C2MA) and the PCH research unit, contributing to the AMI ‘Skills and Professions of the Future’ project.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement an experimental test bench to study battery thermal runaway in the presence of polymeric materials.
• Define experimental protocols, conduct test campaigns and analyse results to improve understanding of fire propagation mechanisms.
• Contribute to the development of the institute’s teaching programme on battery fire safety.
• Design and deliver a training module covering thermal runaway mechanisms, associated risks, test methods and prevention strategies.
• Prepare teaching materials, deliver courses and disseminate scientific results through publications and conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant scientific field.
• Excellent command of scientific English, both written and spoken.
• Proven ability to publish in international scientific journals and present at conferences.
• Strong scientific writing skills.

Required skills

• Experimental test‑bench design and implementation.
• Data analysis and interpretation of fire‑propagation experiments.
