Postdoctoral Research on Passive Heat Transfer Enhancement for Latent Thermal Energy Storage

About the role

The Energy and Environment Research Centre at IMT Nord Europe seeks a postdoctoral researcher to develop and validate passive heat‑transfer enhancement techniques for latent heat thermal energy storage systems. The work combines high‑temperature experimental testing with thermal simulations to improve phase‑change material performance.

Key responsibilities

• Finalize instrumentation and data‑acquisition systems for a unique high‑temperature experimental facility.
• Design and execute experimental campaigns to evaluate passive heat‑transfer enhancement geometries.
• Analyse experimental data, compare results with numerical models, and contribute to model optimisation.
• Publish findings in international journals and present at conferences.
• Support technology‑transfer and valorisation activities with innovation offices.

Required profile

• PhD in Thermal Sciences, Energy, Fluid Mechanics or a closely related field.
• Strong background in heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• Experience designing and conducting experimental research, including scientific instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent scientific writing skills and proficiency in spoken and written English.
