Mechanical Design Engineer - Conveyor Systems

About the role

The EMEA Case Conveyor Systems team implements project-specific conveyor systems for intralogistics, focusing on container and light unit load conveyor technology using Dematic standard belt and roller conveyors, special designs and purchased components. The role covers basic and detail engineering, from concept through to handover to the installation team, with cross-departmental cooperation.

Key responsibilities

• Basic engineering: approval layout, safety assessment of the project scope, material flow review, interface clarification, collision checks, access and escape route definitions, ergonomic assessment of workstations, preliminary mockups and measurement recording at the customer site
• Detail engineering: detailed layouts, conveyor technology definition (drives, speeds, rollers, belts, guides, supports, suspension), stepovers, maintenance platforms and safety devices, technical specifications for purchased components, special designs and final mockups
• Ordering and procurement: bills of materials for Dematic conveyor technology, purchase requisitions in SAP, data lists for hardware controls planning, installation drawings and handover to the installation team
• System risk assessment, safety inspection at the customer site with CE Compliance, remote and on-site installation support and engineering support for supplier FATs

Required profile

• Graduate engineer or Master's or Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (materials handling or intralogistics specialization advantageous)
• 3-5 years of professional experience; graduates are also welcomed
• Project engineering and mechanical design expertise (ideally in intralogistics or materials handling)
• Good written and spoken English, teamwork, communication, structured and results-oriented approach, problem-solving and self-management skills
• Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time
