Manufacturing Assembly Line Architect – Satellite Production

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a Manufacturing Assembly Line Architect to join its Manufacturing Engineering & Env. Tests Constellations department in Toulouse. You will help design and optimise high‑volume satellite production lines for commercial and government customers, ensuring the delivery of cutting‑edge space solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of Final Assembly Line (FAL) processes and associated Manufacturing Ground Support Equipment (MGSE).
• Ensure mechanical designs are optimised for serial production and define manufacturing processes for high‑volume satellite assembly.
• Specify and manage validation procedures for integrated assembly stations, including mechanical integration, smart tool integration and automation sequences.
• Develop mechanical routing for standard and non‑standard assembly flows and implement corrective actions for non‑conformities.
• Provide technical support and training to assembly line operators on new processes and equipment.

Required profile

• Advanced proficiency and extensive background in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in satellite manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design for Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and project‑management skills.
• Excellent communication abilities and capacity to work in a multicultural engineering environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer.
• Knowledge of assembly/manufacturing processes and MGSE design and validation.
• Experience with configuration‑management tools, e.g., SAP.
• Familiarity with smart‑tool programming (e.g., Desoutter) or geolocation systems (e.g., Sarissa) is a plus.
