Legal Director, EMEA Employment Law

About the role

Lime is seeking an experienced Legal Director to lead its EMEA employment law function. You will act as the senior legal partner for the People team and business leaders, providing pragmatic advice on complex employment matters across multiple jurisdictions while building scalable legal infrastructure for a fast‑growing global company.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal advisor on day‑to‑day employment law issues, including employee relations, terminations, investigations, accommodations, leaves, works council matters, workforce classification, TUPE, and reorganisations.
• Lead employment‑related disputes, litigation, agency charges, audits, inspections, and regulatory matters, managing outside counsel as needed.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and assess workforce structures, contracts, and operational practices.
• Draft, review, and localise employment agreements, handbooks, separation agreements, policies, and other employment documents.
• Support compensation and benefits programmes, pay‑equity and pay‑transparency initiatives, including EU Pay Transparency Directive compliance.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and proactively advise on changes affecting company practices.
• Develop and implement scalable policies, playbooks, and processes to improve consistency, reduce risk, and support efficient growth.

Required profile

• J.D. or equivalent law degree with an active bar membership in good standing.
• Extensive experience advising on employment law across multiple EMEA jurisdictions.
• Proven ability to manage complex workforce classification and contingent‑worker structures.
• Strong judgment, independent working style, and ability to partner with HR, Operations, Finance, and Product teams.
