Interim Commercial & Copyright Lawyer – 12 Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking an interim Commercial & Copyright Lawyer to join the Paris legal team of a leading international technology company on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. The role will act as an operational buffer for a fast‑moving commercial partnerships function, handling high‑volume contracts and supporting new AI‑related partnership programmes while adhering to strict compliance guardrails.

Key responsibilities

• Manage existing operational legal workstreams end‑to‑end as an independent contributor.
• Support the development and rollout of new commercial programmes, including emerging‑technology partnership pilots.
• Draft and negotiate commercial and copyright contracts.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal analysis and support to the core French legal team.
• Operate within strict compliance guardrails on dominance and separation of legal/commercial negotiation functions.
• Anticipate and flag legal risks while aligning with business objectives in a fast‑paced environment.
• Communicate clearly and proactively with legal and commercial stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer under French law with professional proficiency in French.
• Strong commercial law background with hands‑on experience drafting and negotiating commercial and copyright contracts.
• Risk and compliance experience preferred, though deep subject‑matter expertise is not required.
• Mid‑level, hands‑on professional comfortable managing projects independently.
• Proactive, strategic mindset with excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Paris three days per week.
