Head of Export Control & Sanctions Regulatory

About the role

Airbus Commercial is seeking a senior leader to head its Export Control and Sanctions Regulatory function within the Export Control Programme Office in Toulouse. The role ensures consistent implementation of export control and sanctions regulations across the group, supports divisions and subsidiaries, and promotes a strong compliance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of seven compliance experts across Europe.
• Design, update and deploy export control policies on sanctions and classification, including directives, methods and guidelines.
• Oversee group‑wide implementation of these policies and ensure a consistent approach.
• Provide training on sanctions and classification for exposed populations.
• Manage the Legal Expert Group on sanctions and raise awareness within Airbus Legal & Compliance.
• Maintain and expand the regulatory watch network across Airbus Commercial, Defence & Space, and Helicopters.
• Advise business units on sanctions, embargoes, diversions and related regulatory matters.
• Co‑lead projects reviewing processes and tools applicable to the aircraft lifecycle.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in export control, sanctions compliance, or related regulatory fields.
• Proven leadership of multi‑disciplinary compliance teams.
• Strong understanding of international sanctions regimes and classification systems.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of export control regulations (e.g., EAR, ITAR, EU Dual‑Use).
• Expertise in sanctions frameworks (e.g., UN, EU, US OFAC).
• Experience developing and delivering compliance training.
• Ability to translate regulatory changes into practical policies.
