Head of Export Control – Foreign Regulations, Sanctions & Investigations

About the role

Airbus Helicopters is seeking a strategic leader to head its Export Control team in Marignane, France. You will safeguard the company’s ability to operate globally by ensuring compliance with the most demanding foreign export regulations, sanctions regimes and internal investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead compliance with U.S. ITAR, U.S. EAR, UK, Italy and other foreign export control regulations.
• Provide guidance, training and advisory support to engineering, sales, supply chain and MRO functions, especially during bid and offer phases.
• Oversee preparation and coordination of export licence applications, end‑user statements and authorisations.
• Interface with foreign authorities, regulators, suppliers and subcontractors for licensing purposes.
• Manage global sanctions and embargo compliance (OFAC, EU, UK, UN) and implement screening and escalation processes.
• Lead internal investigations of potential export control or sanctions violations and prepare voluntary disclosures to relevant authorities.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in export control, sanctions compliance or related legal fields, preferably in aerospace or defence.
• Strong knowledge of ITAR, EAR, OFAC and EU sanction regimes.
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to assess geopolitical risk.
• Leadership experience managing a multidisciplinary team of around seven professionals.
