Hardware Engineer – Medical Device Robotics

About the role

Zimmer Biomet is seeking a Hardware Engineer to contribute to the development of surgical assistance robots and related instruments. The role focuses on the mechanical subsystem while collaborating across hardware, software, and robotics teams to deliver innovative medical devices.

Key responsibilities

• Define and monitor subsystem requirements for new and existing devices.
• Analyze technical options, propose solutions, and support decision‑making.
• Participate in hardware risk management activities, including FMEA.
• Design, draft, and execute parts and sub‑assemblies for surgical robots.
• Prepare and interpret drawings, diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Ensure quality of deliverables for internal teams and external manufacturers.
• Support prototype development, integration, verification, and design‑transfer activities.
• Provide technical assistance to product lifecycle, production, regulatory, and post‑market teams.
• Maintain and update technical documentation and ensure compliance with standards.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles applied to medical devices.
• Experience with risk management processes such as hardware FMEA.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (IEC 60601‑1, IEC 60601‑1‑2, CE, FDA).
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
