Fixed-Wing Test Pilot

About the role

Alta Ares builds AI-guided interceptors against drones and cruise missiles and the software platform behind them, serving NATO-aligned militaries and defence institutions. As a Fixed-Wing Test Pilot, you will fly the company's fixed-wing drones during development and demonstrations, acting as Safety Pilot on experimental flights and helping train pilots, document procedures and improve operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate fixed-wing UAVs during development tests and demos, including manual piloting of non-standard or complex takeoffs and landings.
• Serve as Safety Pilot during avionics hardware and software testing, monitoring aircraft behaviour and taking manual control when needed.
• Work with the flight-controller team to report anomalies and validate airworthiness and pre-flight checks.
• Prepare, organise and maintain flight-test and demo equipment, perform routine UAV maintenance and carry out repairs and hardware adjustments.

Required profile

• Proven experience flying fixed-wing UAVs (required).
• Experience flying multirotor drones (preferred).
• Hands-on skills in maintenance and repair of UAV platforms.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to work under test-flight conditions.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of aerodynamics, CG balancing and basic aircraft mechanics.
• Ability to troubleshoot propulsion systems, especially turbines.
• Familiarity with flight-control systems, tuning and parameter testing.
