First Team Club Doctor

About the role

Le Havre Athletic Club, the oldest football club in France and a Ligue 1 member, is looking for an experienced First Team Club Doctor to lead the medical service for the professional squad. The doctor will work within an interdisciplinary performance environment, ensuring player health, availability and optimal performance on training, matchdays and during travel across France and Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and clinical governance for the first‑team medical service.
• Deliver medical assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and health support to players during training, matches, rehabilitation and travel.
• Offer on‑site matchday medical cover, including pitch‑side emergency care and acute injury/illness management.
• Lead periodic health surveillance and player screening in line with federation requirements.
• Conduct pre‑signing and pre‑season medical examinations and advise on recruitment decisions.
• Coordinate injury and illness management with physiotherapy and performance staff to ensure safe return‑to‑play.
• Oversee medication management, imaging requests and specialist referrals.
• Manage anti‑doping compliance, player education and Therapeutic Use Exemption processes.
• Supervise the medical and paramedical team, maintaining confidential records and medico‑legal documentation.
• Plan medical provision for domestic and international travel.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine, registered with the Ordre des Médecins.
• Extensive experience in sports medicine, preferably at professional football level.
• Strong clinical judgement, emotional intelligence and ability to work under pressure.
• Full clinical and professional independence in line with French regulation and LFP charter.
