Engineering Operations Technician – Data Center

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Operations Technician to support Amazon’s mission‑critical data centre. The role ensures the availability and reliability of all electrical, mechanical and HVAC infrastructure, helping to maintain >99.999% uptime for critical servers.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and HVAC equipment across the data centre.
• Supervise contractors performing preventive maintenance and service tasks.
• Develop and execute emergency repair work plans for critical assets.
• Perform on‑call duties, shift work and rack power installations, including PDU and ATS replacements.
• Create, update and close work orders and ticket entries, documenting labor, parts and equipment status.
• Test and verify electrical and cooling capacity before new rack deployments.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, security and procedural requirements.

Required profile

• Self‑managed professional who takes initiative and solves complex technical problems.
• Strong focus on safety and ability to follow documented procedures.
• Excellent root‑cause analysis and troubleshooting mindset.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a rotating on‑call schedule.

Required skills

• Electrical systems (three‑phase, switchgear, UPS, PDU, wet‑cell batteries).
• Mechanical and HVAC equipment (diesel generators, fuel systems, CRAC, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, water‑chemical treatment, air handling units, pumps, motors, VFDs).
• Building automation and monitoring systems.
• Rack power installation, PDU and ATS replacement.
• Ticketing and work‑order management systems.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
