Database Administrator

About the role

Scaleway is looking for a Database Administrator to join its Database & Data Platform team. You will help maintain and enhance both internal and public‑facing database services, ensuring they remain reliable, secure, and performant as the company scales.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve internal databases (updates, bug fixes, optimisations, automation, deployments, de‑commissions).
• Support public database services and integrate new engine features such as replication, high availability and backup strategies.
• Diagnose and resolve incidents and bugs affecting databases.
• Improve the technical stack used for database management and automation.
• Deploy new database instances and design robust backup, replication and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Use tools like Ansible and Docker to support infrastructure and automation.
• Collaborate with developers and other DBAs to promote best practices.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and contribute to design reviews.

Required profile

• Solid experience administering at least one major RDBMS (PostgreSQL, MySQL or Oracle) in production environments.
• Proven ability to deploy, maintain and automate database instances.
