Customs Manager

About the role

Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group is looking for a Customs Manager to expand AliExpress’ customs and compliance programme across Europe. The role focuses on digital transformation of e‑commerce logistics and the implementation of fully automated customs clearance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with EU customs regulations for both B2C and B2B import activities.
• Supervise daily customs operations, coordinating internal logistics, compliance teams, customs brokers, authorities, 4PL partners and Cainiao’s smart sorting centres.
• Drive optimisation of customs workflows, automation and risk‑management initiatives.
• Lead supplier contract negotiations to achieve cost reductions while meeting business needs and mitigating risk.
• Serve as the primary liaison with customs authorities, logistics partners and internal departments such as Finance, Legal, Customer Service, Quality Control, Risk, Government Relations, Procurement and Last‑Mile teams.

Required profile

• Degree in Business, Customs, International Trade, Supply Chain or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in customs compliance and operations.
• Project‑management experience, preferably with IT‑related projects.
• Strong knowledge of EU customs regulations for B2C and B2B shipments, including customs guarantees and bonded‑warehouse processes.
• Proven ability to monitor KPIs, analyse data and develop cost‑efficient solutions.
• Excellent communication skills in French and English; Chinese is a plus.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast‑changing environment.
