Connectivity & Communications System Engineer

About the role

Airbus Defence & Space is seeking a Senior System Engineer specialized in Communications and Connectivity to join the Comms Systems Architectures Team in Toulouse. The role focuses on delivering system‑engineering activities for airborne platforms while ensuring compliance, security and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver system‑engineering tasks on time, cost and quality, covering integration, verification, certification and security accreditation.
• Participate in internal and external technical reviews and support progress‑review meetings with customers.
• Capture customer requirements, translate them into design documentation and ensure its validation.
• Coordinate closely with the Chief Engineering Office, other work‑packages and COMMS design offices.
• Maintain awareness of compliance risks and act with integrity to protect the company’s reputation.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering (preferably a PhD or Telecommunications Engineering).
• Senior System Engineer experience in communications, connectivity or avionics.
• Knowledge of aircraft and communications architecture on at least one platform (e.g., UAS, MRTT, C295, A400M).
• Familiarity with system‑engineering processes, design packages (DPs/ABDs) and certification procedures.
• Strong understanding of cyber‑security implications for airborne platforms.
• Fluent English and strong problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Requirements traceability with DOORS.
• Model‑based systems development using Simulink, Matlab and CAMEO.
• Project management and configuration control.
• Communications technologies: Voice, IP/Digital, Tactical Datalinks.
• Cyber‑security awareness for aerospace systems.
