Community Associate

About the role

The Community Associate will be based in France and work at the heart of a global open-source ecosystem. You will help shape how contributors, users and enthusiasts connect, feel supported and recognized across digital channels, events and meet-ups.

Key responsibilities

• Create and share community stories such as contributor spotlights, project highlights and personal journeys.
• Engage with the community on Discord: welcome members, facilitate discussions, organise AMAs, watch parties and maintain an inclusive atmosphere.
• Collaborate with marketing to manage and grow social-media channels, ensuring authentic and engaging content.
• Support planning and execution of online and in-person events, handling logistics, communications and post-event content.
• Assist with contributor recognition programmes, including swag coordination and timely acknowledgements.
• Capture, edit and repurpose community content (videos, recaps, tutorials) to amplify reach.
• Work with moderators and cross-functional teams to keep community spaces healthy and aligned with open-source values.

Required profile

• 2-3 years of experience in community management, social media, communications or related fields.
• Hands-on experience moderating or actively participating in Discord communities.
• Proven track record of managing social-media accounts with genuine audience interaction.
• Experience organising events, both virtual and physical, including logistics and on-site execution.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple initiatives.
