Commissioning Manager (M/W)

About the role

Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions is looking for a Commissioning Manager to join its Commissioning Department, which plans, coordinates and executes the commissioning and start-up phases of industrial projects. The role works closely with engineering, construction, HSE, project management, commissioning supervisors and client teams to deliver safe, efficient and successful plant start-ups. The team is based across Europe and is growing.

Key responsibilities

• Define the commissioning strategy, planning, staffing and execution for assigned projects, and support the proposal effort.
• When working on site under the Site Manager, be accountable for the safety of commissioning activities and enforce HSE procedures.
• Lead all commissioning activities to deliver the project on time, on budget and to the expected quality.
• Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation (commissioning plan, test procedures, tracking matrices, handover dossiers).
• Coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning across disciplines (process, mechanical, instrumentation, electrical, utilities).
• Manage internal teams, subcontractors, vendors and commissioning engineers.
• Oversee cold and hot testing, initial start-up and operational readiness, ensuring safety and technical compliance.
• Act as main contact for commissioning with the client, project team and construction site.
• Manage punch lists and non-conformities, lead commissioning meetings and contribute to project reviews and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Degree in process, mechanical or instrumentation engineering (or equivalent) after two years of study.
• At least 8 years of industrial commissioning experience, preferably in gases, chemicals, energy, oil & gas or process industries, and a minimum of 5 years as a commissioning manager.
• Fluent English and French, written and spoken (mandatory).
• Ability to travel and work on international project sites for extended periods (6-18 months).

Required skills

• Solid understanding of process plant operation and multi-discipline technical interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of commissioning methodology, documentation and safety standards.
• Excellent communication, planning and leadership skills.
