CMF Designer (Consultant) – Paris

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned CMF Designer to join our team on a 12‑month freelance contract, working onsite in Paris. In this role you will shape the colour, material and finish language of our products, ensuring a compelling visual and tactile experience that aligns with market trends and brand identity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop colour palettes, material selections and finish specifications based on market research and project requirements.
• Collaborate with design, engineering and product development teams to integrate CMF decisions into prototypes and final products.
• Research new materials and propose innovative treatments to improve product durability, quality and aesthetics.
• Oversee the implementation of CMF choices throughout manufacturing, guaranteeing compliance with specifications.
• Produce mood boards, samples, 2D/3D illustrations and presentations to communicate concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
• Perform trend analyses and attend trade shows or conferences to stay current on colour, material and finish developments.

Required profile

• Degree in industrial design, product design, materials science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a CMF designer or in a comparable role, preferably within electronics, automotive or fashion.
• Fluent in English; French is a plus.
• Strong artistic sensitivity, attention to detail and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with visual design software such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience using Unreal Engine 5 and/or Blender for 2D/3D visualisation.
• In‑depth knowledge of material properties, treatments and manufacturing feasibility.
