Chief Engineer for New Eco‑Friendly Container Vessel

About the role

The client seeks a Chief Engineer to join a newly‑built container vessel equipped with a modern, eco‑friendly methanol‑driven engine. The ship flies the French flag, has a gross tonnage of 14,457 and a deadweight of 27,948 tonnes. The role is based on board and involves overseeing the vessel’s engineering department during a three‑month assignment, with the possibility of a permanent rotation starting in mid‑July.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the engineering department on a newly‑built container ship.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of the methanol‑driven main engine (MAN B&W 5S 50ME‑C9‑LGIM‑coEG, 6,650 kW).
• Monitor vessel performance parameters such as GT and DWT.
• Maintain compliance with all statutory and company regulations, including environmental standards.

Required profile

• Valid STCW documents.
• Valid medical certificate.
• Advanced IGF code certification.
• Good command of English.

• STCW certification.
