Associate Mechanical Director – Paris

About the role

This senior leadership position is for an experienced mechanical engineer to head the mechanical engineering capability of an international consultancy focused on mission‑critical infrastructure and data centres. Based in Paris, you will oversee multidisciplinary teams, develop client relationships and ensure delivery of high‑quality mechanical designs across France and the wider EMEA region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and delivery of mission‑critical and data‑centre projects from concept through construction.
• Act as Project Director or Lead Mechanical Engineer on major assignments.
• Manage and mentor mechanical engineers and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Develop mechanical system strategies, including data‑centre cooling, chilled water, free‑cooling, HVAC, ventilation and heat‑rejection solutions.
• Review and approve calculations, reports, specifications and design documentation.
• Interface directly with hyperscale, colocation and investor clients.
• Support business development and growth of the Paris operation.
• Coordinate with electrical, public health, architectural and structural disciplines.
• Ensure compliance with French regulations, international standards and client requirements.
• Participate in technical due diligence, feasibility studies and master‑planning activities.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Minimum 10 + years of experience in consulting engineering.
• Significant experience delivering mission‑critical, data‑centre or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of cooling systems and energy‑efficiency initiatives.
