Apprentice Industrial Automation Engineer

About the role

Greif, a global leader in performance packaging, is offering an apprenticeship in industrial automation in Saint-Étienne. During the apprenticeship, the apprentice takes part in the development, programming and commissioning of industrial PLCs, and helps improve automated production lines.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in developing, programming and commissioning industrial PLCs.
• Work on existing programs to understand how installations work, analyse faults and propose improvements.
• Take part in replacing and retrofitting PLCs during line modernisation projects.
• Translate programs from old PLCs to new generations while keeping functions and performance.
• Take part in commissioning, testing and validation of new automated systems.
• Develop skills in industrial computing (industrial networks, HMI, supervision and equipment communication).
• Contribute to improving reliability and availability of automated installations.
• Write technical documentation, update programs and backups.
• Design training modules for maintenance technicians and help train them.

Required profile

• Preparing a Bac+3 to Bac+5 degree in automation, GEII or equivalent.
• First experience (internship or apprenticeship) in an industrial environment.
• Rigour, analytical thinking and good synthesis skills.
• Enjoys hands-on work, teamwork and industrial environments.
