Applied Research in GenAI / NLP Internship

About the role

Join Betclic’s GenAI Center of Excellence in Bordeaux as a research intern focused on generative AI and natural language processing. You will explore novel ways to steer embeddings for cost‑effective text clustering and evaluate the quality of different clustering approaches.

Key responsibilities

• Map state‑of‑the‑art methods for LLM‑assisted clustering, steerable embeddings and evaluation metrics.
• Design and implement an evaluation protocol using reference corpora, metrics and LLM‑as‑a‑judge.
• Run controlled experiments comparing pipelines, embedding models and orientation techniques on internal and public datasets.
• Document protocols, results and present findings to technical teams and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Master’s (or final‑year) program in Machine Learning, Data Science, NLP, Applied Mathematics or related field.
• Strong analytical mindset, scientific rigor and ability to work autonomously.
• Comfortable communicating experimental results clearly in English or French.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Experience with LLM APIs, prompting, tool‑calling and AI coding assistants.
• Familiarity with embeddings, clustering or topic‑modelling tools (e.g., sentence‑transformers, UMAP, HDBSCAN, BERTopic).
