Senior Site Reliability Engineer, IaaS

About the role

Algolia is building the foundations of a unified cloud and Kubernetes platform to replace its long-standing fleet of bare-metal servers. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer in IaaS, you will lead the Cloud Baseline and the lifecycle capabilities that let teams operate and migrate workloads safely on a cloud-native platform, working across cloud foundations, Kubernetes, platform engineering, automation, reliability and large-scale production operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and evolution of Cloud Baseline capabilities across cloud providers, covering identity and access, networking, account structure, security, auditability, tagging, inventory and cost visibility.
• Design and automate cloud infrastructure foundations for a growing fleet of production Kubernetes clusters.
• Lead initiatives such as cloud-environment standardisation, cluster lifecycle automation, upgrade strategies and infrastructure-drift reduction.
• Ensure foundations, lifecycle operations and guardrails are reliable and scalable for large-scale workload migration.
• Treat the platform as a product: define interfaces, reusable modules, self-service workflows, documentation and operational standards.
• Build automated guardrails for security, compliance, reliability and safe change management.
• Improve efficiency through capacity planning, rightsizing, autoscaling, resource governance and cost visibility.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, FinOps and engineering teams.
• Take part in the on-call rotation and lead resolution of complex production issues.

Required profile

• Strong hands-on production expertise with AWS or GCP.
• Ability to design, build and operate reliable cloud infrastructure in production.
• Track record of leading complex technical initiatives and delivering durable solutions across teams.
• Platform mindset: designing for the engineers who consume the work, balancing velocity, correctness, security and reliability.
• Awareness of cloud cost drivers and comfort adopting AI-assisted engineering tools.
• Excellent spoken and written English.

Required skills

• Deep practical Kubernetes knowledge, including its cloud infrastructure dependencies.
• Infrastructure-as-code and automation, ideally Terraform and Python, Go or equivalent.
• Solid knowledge of Linux, networking, distributed systems and production operations.
• Nice to have: familiarity with multiple cloud providers, GitOps or policy-as-code tooling (Argo CD, Helm, OPA, Kyverno), and exposure to cloud migration, platform engineering, FinOps or large-scale infrastructure transformation.

The annual base salary range is EUR 69,768 to EUR 96,900. Algolia offers a flexible workplace model, with options for fully remote or hybrid-remote work.
