Senior Programme Management Officer

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Senior Programme Management Officer to join the Industry and Economy Division in Paris. The role supports UNEP’s mission to promote sustainable consumption and production, circular economy, and responsible resource management.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and review of scientific studies, assessments and knowledge products of the International Resource Panel on sustainable use and management of natural resources and materials.
• Provide methodological advice on life‑cycle approaches, including material‑footprint and circularity metrics, to engage industrial and finance stakeholders.
• Ensure research and analysis integrate competing priorities across the full life‑cycle to enhance policy relevance.
• Strengthen the science‑policy interface on resource and material production and consumption in global, regional and national policy processes.
• Leverage UNEP knowledge networks and partnerships to inform policy and business discourse on sustainable consumption, circular economy and resource management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in preparing and reviewing scientific studies and assessments related to natural resources and materials.
• Demonstrated ability to provide methodological guidance on life‑cycle and material‑footprint analyses.
• Experience working with diverse industrial, finance and policy stakeholders to integrate scientific evidence into practical policies.
