Research Scientist – Developmental AI (FAIR)

About the role

Meta's Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team is looking for a senior Research Scientist to advance Developmental AI (DevAI). The role focuses on creating algorithms that enable AI agents to learn efficiently from limited real‑world data, mirroring how children acquire knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Publish state‑of‑the‑art papers in top machine‑learning and cognitive‑science venues.
• Conduct independent research on the bidirectional relationship between AI and biological learning.
• Release high‑quality open‑source code and reproducible research artifacts.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in AI, computer science, cognitive science, or a related field.
• Proven track record of influential research demonstrated by high‑impact conference publications (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR, ACL).
• Experience communicating research to both technical peers and broader audiences.
• Preferably 10+ years of research experience in academia, industry, or government.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++.
• Extensive experience with PyTorch.
