Lawyer – Institutional & EU Law (Luxembourg)

About the role

The European Investment Bank (EIB) is seeking a Lawyer specialized in Institutional and European Union law to join its Legal Corporate Department in Luxembourg. This full‑time, permanent position requires regular on‑site presence and offers the chance to work in a highly international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the EIB as an agent in litigation before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
• Provide legal advice and draft opinions on complex institutional, EU, transparency, anti‑fraud, and staff‑related matters.
• Conduct legal research and studies across the division’s areas of responsibility.
• Participate in internal and external working groups, panels, and task forces.
• Liaise with external counsel, supervise their work, and maintain contacts with internal and external counterparts.
• Stay up‑to‑date with relevant legal developments and proactively share insights.

Required profile

• University degree in law (minimum Bachelor level), preferably a Master’s degree in EU law.
• Bar qualification is a strong asset.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within EU institutions, national bodies, or an international law firm.
• Experience in EU litigation and deep knowledge of EU law are advantageous.
• Excellent command of English and/or French.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard computer tools (e.g., Microsoft Office).
• Familiarity with legal research databases related to EU law.
