Business & Contract Controller – Alliance & Partnership

About the role

As a Business and Contract Controller within the Alliance & Partnership Department, you will be responsible for the contractual and financial oversight of liner partnerships between ocean vessel carriers. You will act as the first line of defence, protecting the group’s commercial and financial interests while supporting the Alliance & Partnership Specialist and Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Administer partnership agreements, ensure correct application and anticipate financial and operational impacts.
• Monitor and control allocations, including overloading and space imbalance, and produce regular performance reports.
• Provide first‑level response to schedule disruptions, contribute to responsibility apportionment, and manage claims and compensation with partners.
• Track contract financial status – invoicing, disputes, collections, partner disbursements, and cash‑flow forecasts – ensuring timely follow‑up.
• Generate statistical analyses and management tools to support activity monitoring and decision‑making.
• Conduct ongoing contractual monitoring to ensure alignment between commitments and operational execution.
• Advise internal departments on contract interpretation, disseminate key information, and coordinate corrective actions.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree (4–5 years) in Finance, Economics, Business Control or a related field, or a Business School graduation.
• Initial experience in Business Control or Audit (internship, apprenticeship or first position) is an asset.
• Fluency in English and strong interpersonal, rigorous and reliable work habits.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple internal stakeholders, external agents and other shipping lines.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel functions and proficiency with MS Office digital tools.
