Senior Private Sector Partnerships and Events Lead Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a senior consultant to lead private‑sector partnership development and events for its Sectoral Transition Section. The role will support the acceleration of decarbonisation across buildings, construction, energy demand‑side management, cooling and food waste, while strengthening sub‑national climate action.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, negotiate and manage strategic partnerships with private‑sector actors to advance UNEP’s sectoral transition agenda.
• Design and deliver high‑impact events, including the Buildings and Cooling Pavilion at UNFCCC COPs and the Global Forum on Buildings and Climate.
• Coordinate multi‑stakeholder platforms such as the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, the Cool Coalition and the Food is Never Waste Coalition.
• Provide policy advice, technical assistance and resource mobilisation support to governments and partners.
• Facilitate knowledge exchange between UNEP‑led science, policy makers, financiers and industry.

Required profile

• Proven experience in partnership development and event management within the climate, environment or sustainability sector.
• Strong understanding of decarbonisation pathways for buildings, energy demand‑side management, cooling and food waste.
• Ability to work with governments, multilateral platforms and private‑sector stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a consultancy mindset.
