Financial Controller – Paris

About the role

ANZ Europe S.A is establishing a new EU banking subsidiary in Paris as part of its European growth strategy. The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in building the finance function from the ground up, ensuring robust financial control, governance and compliance for the new entity.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the financial control framework, guaranteeing strong governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Oversee month‑end and quarter‑end close processes, balance‑sheet governance, reconciliations and related financial controls.
• Review and challenge financial outputs prepared by the Group Capability Centre in Manila, ensuring accuracy and adherence to control standards.
• Manage statutory reporting, including preparation and filing of annual financial statements and disclosures.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting submissions and align them with statutory reporting and the general ledger.
• Act as the primary relationship manager for external auditors, coordinating audit planning and execution.
• Supervise tax accounting and compliance activities, supporting the subsidiary’s overall financial governance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial control, month‑end close and statutory reporting within a banking or financial services environment.
• Strong understanding of regulatory reporting requirements and audit processes.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across finance, operations and risk.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
