Europe Raw Material SQA Officer – Quality Assurance

About the role

The Europe Raw Material SQA Officer is responsible for ensuring the quality, food safety and regulatory compliance of raw material portfolios supplied to Royal Canin manufacturing sites across Europe. The role works within Mars’ quality framework, supporting continuous improvement and business continuity.

Key responsibilities

• Guarantee quality, food safety and legal compliance of low‑ and medium‑risk raw materials by applying Mars Quality Management (MQM) standards.
• Collect, analyse and report metrics on raw material performance to demonstrate SQA contribution and compliance.
• Assess and validate supplier capabilities through risk assessments, audits, qualification plans and trial coordination with factories.
• Manage quality exceptions and non‑conformances to minimise impact on production.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives by collaborating with regional sourcing, operations and internal stakeholders.
• Act as the primary user of raw‑material quality systems and coordinate internal quality audits for the Europe commercial team.
• Lead regulatory projects for the Europe SQA team and develop regional expertise.

Required profile

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Agronomy, Quality, Engineering or a related technical field.
• First experience in purchasing, quality assurance, laboratory work or food engineering within the FMCG sector.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Willingness to travel up to 20 % of the time.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Nexus, Veritas or RCLMS quality systems.
