Programme Management Officer – International Methane Emissions Observatory

About the role

The Programme Management Officer will support UNEP’s Climate Change Division by coordinating the International Methane Emissions Observatory (IMEO). Based in Paris, the role ensures strategic alignment, effective governance, and smooth implementation of IMEO’s work programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the central coordination function across IMEO practices, projects, and cross‑cutting workstreams.
• Drive the development, consolidation, and tracking of IMEO’s annual workplan, establishing performance indicators, monitoring progress, and identifying delivery risks with mitigation measures.
• Support strategic planning processes, preparing internal strategy documents, technical roadmaps, and decision‑support materials for senior leadership.
• Structure and facilitate internal governance processes, including weekly management meetings and all‑staff engagements, ensuring effective information flow, documentation of decisions, and follow‑up on action items.
• Coordinate cross‑divisional inputs within UNEP to ensure coherence with broader Climate Change Division objectives.
