Process Engineer

About the role

Syntetica is seeking a hands‑on Process Engineer to shape the design of its demonstration and future industrial plants. You will work at the intersection of R&D and engineering, modelling, simulating and optimizing a patented nylon depolymerisation process for both technical performance and economic viability.

Key responsibilities

• Own engineering of purification and separation sections from R&D trials through pilot design, installation, commissioning and performance monitoring.
• Build and maintain process simulations and core engineering documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, utilities balances) for pilot and demo plants.
• Work hands‑on with equipment suppliers and external engineering partners throughout FEED, detailed design, procurement, FAT/SAT, installation and ramp‑up.
• Contribute to safety, operability and performance reviews (HAZID/HAZOP, bottleneck analyses, optimisation plans) and drive corrective actions.
• Structure the demonstration plant design basis by consolidating validated pilot data into robust industrial assumptions.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, team‑oriented process engineer with a strong desire to impact the green transition.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a closely related field.
• 5+ years of experience in chemical process development and scale‑up, including direct involvement in pilot or industrial projects.
• Versatile, mentally flexible and passionate about dynamic problem solving.

Required skills

• Process simulation and modelling.
• Creation and maintenance of PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets and utilities balances.
• Safety and operability studies (HAZID, HAZOP).
• FEED, detailed design, procurement, FAT/SAT, installation and ramp‑up activities.
• Experience with bottleneck analysis and optimisation of chemical processes.
