Junior Payroll Specialist

About the role

Alta Ares is looking for a Junior Payroll Specialist to own the end‑to‑end execution of its French payroll. You will work closely with the People & Talent Lead and Finance team, using PayFit as the core payroll platform, to ensure accurate and compliant monthly payroll for a fast‑growing startup.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle each month on PayFit, including variable inputs, payslip validation, anomaly detection and final approval.
• Collect, verify and integrate monthly variables such as absences, overtime, bonuses, expenses and BSPCE‑related elements.
• Ensure payslip accuracy and compliance with the Syntec collective agreement and French labour law.
• Handle payroll for all contract types (CDI, CDD, apprenticeship, VIE) and manage onboarding and off‑boarding payroll actions.
• Prepare and submit social declarations (DSN, URSSAF) and stay up‑to‑date with regulatory changes.
• Coordinate with external bodies (URSSAF, CPAM, prévoyance, mutuelle, retraite complémentaire) for social security and benefits.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee payroll queries.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or 0‑2 years of experience in French payroll administration.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously in a high‑growth environment.
• Good understanding of French payroll legislation, collective agreements and social security obligations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PayFit payroll software.
