Communications and Policy Writing Specialist

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Communications and Policy Writing Specialist on a short‑term consultancy basis. You will create clear, plain‑language communication and policy products that support the Integrated Assessment for Article 6 (IAA6) project, helping countries advance low‑carbon development pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Develop simplified guide content for IAA6 documentation (Documents 1‑3) and produce 2‑3 policy briefs.
• Write country case studies, a modelling‑driven decision brief, and refreshed key messages for dissemination presentations.
• Create ready‑to‑design content packages for factsheets and infographics.
• Validate all materials with country focal points and obtain approval from the IAA6 Project Manager.
• Ensure all outputs align with UNEP‑CCC’s climate‑resilience and Article 6 objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in environmental or climate‑related communications and policy writing.
• Ability to translate technical information into accessible, plain‑language formats.
• Experience working with international stakeholders and remote teams.
